The distinctive and evocative artistry of Hieronymus Bosch has long captivated audiences, and the annual Bosch Parade in his hometown of Den Bosch serves as a testament to this fascination. The emergence of Augmented Reality (AR) presented an intriguing opportunity to bring Bosch's characters to life, leading to the development of the Bosch app.

This innovative application enables smartphone users to interact with five meticulously crafted characters from Bosch's oeuvre, dating back to circa 1500. Users can seamlessly integrate these figures into their environment, culminating in a personalized Bosch parade that reflects their artistic vision.

At the core of this experience lies advanced technology built upon ARKit 3, complemented by the depth mapping capabilities of 6D.ai. This integration allows for realistic occlusion, enabling characters to navigate their surroundings by authentically disappearing behind physical objects. Such depth perception enhances the overall immersion, creating a compelling AR experience.

Looking ahead, the team is actively exploring enhancements for future versions of the app, including potential support for Magic Leap and implementing a Wayfinding feature in version 2.0. Additional characters and increased interactivity promise to further enrich user engagement.
